Day 28

Todays Miles: 28.60
Total Trip Miles: 779.67

Today was the first day without a cart. Yesterday the off roading popped the tire.
It was a weird feeling running without the cart for a few reasons.

One. I had gotten used to pushing the weight around and moving around cars and traffic and just dealing with it.

Two. I had about two gallons of water in jugs on the cart. Today I started with three bottles and was able to make it 10 miles to a gas station to get two more bottles. At that point it started to get hot and the water warmed up and it just didn’t last long. At about mile 21 I was very dry mouthed and my stomach started to hurt a little and my sweating had stopped. Luckily for me I have a pretty amazing Aunt and she came out and saved the day with some water. I tried to get some cars attention by motioning like I was drinking something hoping they understood what I meant but everyone just thought I was waving. Tammy brought me a banana and some more water and my grandma even came. They reenergized me and off I went again.

With just two or three miles left a news paper journalist came and took a picture of me and my uncle came and gave me another water to put me over till I got to their house.

Right in front of their house is a hill. Normally I would take them slow when they are steep  but today I raced up it since I didn’t have a cart. It was fun. Good a little burn getting to the top but totally worth it.

After I got done running my Cousin Brittany made dinner and it was really good. I really appreciated the cooked meal! Thank you!

I have really enjoyed all my time so far with my family out here. I don’t get to see them nearly enough. After the world run that will change though!

To my vets:

These last few days have really showed me the importance of family. They will stand by you and support you even if you haven’t seen them in years. Never give up on your family. Never push them away. Family is one of the most important aspects of life. Every one is different. Everyone has their views and feelings. But when you put it all aside family is the foundation to all of our lives.
If you haven’t seen or talked to your family in awhile. Reach out to them. Let them know your thinking about them and you love them. Tell them that the past is the past and it’s time to move forward together. Family is what keeps us whole inside when we feel down or broken. Love them even if it’s difficult.

Special shout out to my Uncle Kurt for getting my tire patched up and fixed! It means a lot I appreciate it!
