Day 27

Today’s Miles: 21.02 (Not a good day)
Total Trip Miles: 751.07

Today was an interesting day. I had a few good road miles before Google decided to take me off roaring for 10 miles. By off roaring I mean solid dirt in areas, mud, gravel, a mile or so of just sand and clay... it was rough going up and down rolling hills like that. It also took me to a road that was private and locked... thanks Google.

Shortly after getting back on a road I noticed my left tire was flat. The road terrain previously had popped the tube inside the tire. At that point I was about 20 miles in. I walked a mile and then stopped under a tree. Fortunately my Aunt and Grandmother were already back from the race track and able to come pick me up. I made the decision early on that I felt confident in those tires to get me to Myrtle beach. Once at Myrtle beach I would get new tires and a set of spare tires for South America. Well they didn’t make it all the way. But I got close. Tomorrow I’ll run without my cart and on a Wednesday I’ll be taking my first off day and driving to get a new tire. Was it the smartest to not carry a back up, no it wasn’t very smart. Did I genuinely think I could make 900 miles on these tires, yes I did. Well I learned my lesson today. Always double check google maps if possible and always carry a backup no matter what.

Today over all was just a rough day. The heat, the rough terrain and hills, and the tire deciding it didn’t want to continue the journey with me made for a long day. To add more on top it was 21 miles on no gas stations and lots of bugs.

The one good thing that came out of today was the live phone interview on Fox10 out of Phoenix Arizona. It was a nice short interview while they were live during their morning segment. If you haven’t seen it go check it out!

I am staying the night at my Aunt and Uncles that I haven’t seen sadly in awhile and it’s great to be here. I got to see Brittany and Kyle who I look up to and think are some pretty amazing people. Brittany’s house is super nice. It’s got everything you need and has a really nice flow and design. She is doing a fantastic job with it! Kyler is still as cute as ever!
My Aunt Tammy took me to the store and let me get some fruit and spinach for a nice salad tonight. Tomorrow she will be taking me back to where she picked me up and I will run without my cart to their house. It’ll be nice to not worry about my cart and traffic for once. It should be a 28 or so mile day.

Tomorrow I get to go to Brittany’s house again  and she is cooking for all of the family! It’s going to be a great time. I always like our conversations especially when we get on the minimalist lifestyle and adventures/ having a gypsy soul. It always feels good to relate to someone and I’m glad I have a cousin that sees eye to eye even if she lives half way across the country.

To my vets:

Memorial Day isn't just about honoring veterans, its honoring those who lost their lives. Veterans had the fortune of coming home. For us, that's a reminder of when we come home we still have a responsibility to serve. It's a continuation of service that honors our country and those who fell defending it.

Fallen heroes represent the character of a nation who has a long history of patriotism and honor - and a nation who has fought many battles to keep our country free from threats of terror.
