Day 18

Today’s Miles: 33.1
Total Trip Miles: 514.4

Today I hit a small goal of mine which was 500 miles. A small stepping stone on an amazing but long journey.

Today again was just hot. No shade and not where to stop between towns.
It did rain for about 30 minutes really hard and I have to admit it was like my prayers had been answered. It was cold but wow did it take the heat away long enough for me to smile and enjoy the drops falling!

Buffington was the original stopping place but once I got going we found out they didn’t have a park. So we quickly regrouped and I was going to stop 5 miles short at a town called Canton, Georgia.
We had been communicating most of the day with them but once I actually arrived I quickly found out that they would not allow me to stay anywhere in their city. No and if or buts... so I ended up going past Buffington to the Cherokee Veteran Park which was all set up with a deputy with the county. He said he may even swing by and bring me something to drink in the morning.

Once I got to the park I had some angels come along wanting to help out. They brought me a few DAYS supply of my favorite body armour drink and some fruit and gummy bears. They brought me some juice and more water. They successfully re stocked me and then some. I can not thank Christy, Craig, and their little boy Conner (Ehle) enough. They are such generous and kind heart souls. I’m not sure how I will ever repay your remarkable gifts to me but I appreciate it more than words can describe!

Tomorrow I’ll be working my way to dawsonville, it’s looking to be about 26-27 miles.

To my vets!

Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.
Don’t let people get in your head, don’t let people below you pull you down. You are a one man army and I know your fighting those internal shadows but listen. If you stand tall, you start moving forward, those shadows won’t be able to catch up to you. And if they do, you’ll be strong enough and have the support to tackle them!

  3. We also saw you on Hwy 20 crossing the bridge at Allatoona Lake. I think what you are doing is amazing. I think people need something extreme to understand and pay attention to the cause. I am a Navy brat, my dad retired after 24 years, mostly all of them on subs. I wish I would have known your cause when we saw you. We would have definitely stopped and see if you needed anything for your journey. God Bless You Mr. Johnson.
